Town of Mount Airy

At about 1,540 feet above sea level, Mt. Airy, founded on March 3, 1874, is the highest point on the Southern Railway. Each year this city of approximately 700 inhabitants receives many visitors who come to swim, fish, hike, or camp in the Lake Russell Recreation Area.
